Head Lice Myths—Debunked!

Head Lice Myths—Debunked!

Head lice often cause panic and persistent myths. Time to dispel the biggest myths:
1. Head lice only occur in people with dirty hair. False! Head lice actually like clean hair; hygiene plays no role in getting lice.
2. Lice can jump or fly. Myth! Head lice can't jump or fly—they only walk. Infection occurs through direct hair-to-hair contact.
3. You have to disinfect your entire house. Unnecessary! Lice only survive briefly outside of hair. Washing bedding and clothing at 60°C (140°F) is sufficient, vacuuming the house and sofa, and thoroughly cleaning combs and stuffed animals. Extensively disinfecting or spraying the entire house is pointless.

So: don't panic, but do check regularly and share the correct information. This way, together you can put an end to head lice—and the myths surrounding them!
