How do you clean a lice comb?
Share
After each combing session, it's important to thoroughly clean your lice comb. First, wipe the comb on a paper towel to reveal any lice and nits. Then, you can remove lice from between the comb's teeth with a piece of dental floss – useful for loosening even stubborn nits.
Then, soak the comb in hot water (around 60 degrees Celsius) for a few minutes. This kills any remaining lice and makes the comb hygienically clean. If you have multiple combs, or are treating several people at once, only use 100% clean combs. This prevents lice from being transferred from one family member to another.
When treating multiple people in a household, it's crucial to use a clean comb each time. Clean your comb between sessions, or alternate combs for each person to prevent spreading.
In summary:
• Wipe the comb after each stroke.
• Remove nits and lice with dental floss or a toothpick. • Soak the comb in hot water (60°C) for 5 minutes.
• Use only truly clean combs for each person.
